More about engine repairs and rebuildsWhere the work is done
Most repairs and servicing can be done wherever the car is parked. When a job needs a ramp or an engine crane, we collect the car and bring it back, so either way you don’t have to go anywhere.
The mechanic comes to you with the tools, diagnostics and parts.
For big jobs that need an equipped workshop.
Clutches and timing belts depend on the car: some can be done on a drive, others are better in the workshop. Tell us the make, model and registration and we’ll tell you which applies to yours.
How it works
No dropping the car off, no waiting room and no lift home to arrange.
Call, WhatsApp or request a callback. Give us the registration, where the car is and what it’s doing, or not doing.
We explain what the job involves and what it will cost before any work starts, so there are no surprises on the bill.
The mechanic arrives at your home or workplace with the tools and parts. Bigger jobs are collected and taken to the workshop.
We show you what was done and hand back the keys. You carry on with your day, without having set foot in a garage.
Car won’t start?
A car that won’t start can’t be driven to a garage, which is why a mobile mechanic makes sense. What it does when you turn the key is the first clue.
The battery is flat or at the end of its life. It can be tested, and replaced on the spot if it has failed.
The battery is fine but the starter isn’t turning the engine. Starter motors can usually be changed on your drive.
The engine spins but doesn’t catch. A diagnostic scan and a few tests narrow it down to the part at fault.
The alternator has stopped charging the battery, so every start drains it further until there’s nothing left.
Often a loose or corroded battery terminal, or a blown main fuse. Usually a quick fix once it’s found.
You don’t need to be. Describe what the car does and we’ll take it from there.

Customer feedback

Honest, professional and open about everything. He explained each repair before he started and showed me the old parts afterwards, and the price was well below what most garages had quoted.
Friendly, informative and professional. The car was moving again just when I needed it.
On time, polite and very quick, even though the belt on this car is an awkward one to change.

The things people ask most before booking a mobile mechanic. If yours isn’t here, call 07477 397009 and ask.
You tell us what’s wrong and where the car is, and we come to you: your home, your workplace or the roadside. Fairmile Auto Services brings the tools, the diagnostic equipment and the parts, does the job where the car is parked and hands the keys back when it’s finished. There’s no need to drop the car off or arrange a lift.
More than most people expect. Car servicing, diagnostics, batteries, starter motors, alternators, brake discs and pads, suspension, coil springs, wheel bearings, and oil and coolant leaks can all be done at your home or workplace. All we need is a safe, fairly level place to work.
Yes, that’s exactly what a mobile mechanic is for. We test the battery, the starter motor and the charging system, and scan for fault codes, where the car is parked. Batteries, starter motors and alternators can usually be replaced on the spot, so there’s no recovery truck to pay for.
Yes. We’re open seven days a week and offer same-day call-outs whenever the diary allows. Call 07477 397009, tell us where you are and what has happened, and we’ll tell you honestly how soon we can get to you. We are not a 24-hour recovery service, so if you’re in danger at the roadside, call 999 or your breakdown provider first.
Yes. Car servicing is carried out on your drive or at your workplace. The engine oil and oil filter are changed, the air and fuel filters are checked and replaced when due, and the brakes, tyres, suspension, lights, fluid levels and belts are looked over. We can also carry out pre-MOT checks before the test.
It depends on the car and the job, so we don’t publish a one-size-fits-all price list. Tell us your registration number and what’s wrong, and you’ll get a clear price before any work starts. If we find something else once we’re working on the car, we’ll explain it and you decide whether to go ahead.
Yes, it’s one of our specialisms. We replace dry timing belts, wet belts that run in oil, and timing chains, and have particular experience with Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, Ford and Vauxhall engines. Timing belts need changing somewhere between 40,000 and 100,000 miles depending on the engine.
Some work, such as engine rebuilds, engine swaps and cylinder head gaskets, needs an equipped workshop. For those jobs we offer pick-up and drop-off: we collect the car, carry out the work and return it to you, so you still don’t need to arrange transport.
All makes and models. Recent jobs include a Volkswagen Golf, a Mercedes-Benz A-Class, a MINI, a Fiat Punto, a Peugeot 2008 and a Range Rover Sport. We also look after business vehicles with fleet maintenance.
